I must reform to a good "CATHOLIC BOY"

interesting, i never though about this topic as beeing religious.
as i myself is non religious and belive in nothing, im an atheist, so i never really connected music with religion.

but i do know how religion can be strong, and the thing about parents not liking metal be cause its "satans" music is somewhat interesting.

i now live in a muslim country, and metal is non existant here.
i mean litterary there is NO metal here, and most people i speak to have not even heard about the fact that there is a musical genre called metal.
they all just stare at me and wonder why the hell this man have such long hair. lol

thats not the point though, i guess the level of religiuosness in youre country and family can really affect it.
i know we are not allowed to talk about religion here, its interesting though how it can affect the music taste of people.

in sweden where we are protestant, not many people gives a fuck about religion one way or the other, and sweden have a MASSIVE amount of great metal bands.
but a country with 10 times the population, but are muslim (like egypt for example ::) ) have NO metal bands at all, not a single one. (11 egyptian metal bands listed in metal archives, and 33 pages of swedish metal bands. ::)  :o  :laugh02: lol)

its just a thought, take it for what it is.  ;)

When I told my dad that some of my friends listened to heavy metal/thrash metal when I was 14 and I was interested in maybe giving it a listen he bought me a Slayer album, Iron Maiden album, a King Diamond album, and a lil' one gigabyte Ipod. Here I am now appreciating and listening to every metal genre  $* $*
I'm the most non brutal BDMhead you would ever meet. I'm 5 foot nothing, pasty white, and I look like I'm about 15 even though I'm 19. Lol.

They don't get it, they listen to classic rock and think its noise.  Must be the generation gap.

I had maybe one album... Well after that I bought all the Black Sabbath I could find haha... Now they just ignore what I listen too but still think Im the son of satan

I remember years ago when my Gran heard me listening to Napalm Death, she actually begged me to listen to 'normal' music.
I had the last laugh though ........ she died.   55%%

When I was 16, my parents decided that I was possessed and that the devil had a hold of my mind through the music.  So they took away all my cds and burned all my clothes.  Then I had two forced exorcisms performed on me, one of which I was pinned down by about 10 people screaming at me in tongues.

I listened to whatever I could secretely.  After a few years I started downloading mp3s exclusively and they really had nothing that they could get rid of this time.

Now, they don't really care what I listen to, as long as they can't hear it.

Holly shit... That is nuts.

My folks never cared and even bought me stuff Like Butcherd at Birth  & Eyehategod "Childreen of God" Long sleeves
(both original and wish like hell I still had them) I was 14.  *flydance*

But I have been playing music since I was wee high and my parents had a talk with me when I first got into "Death Metal"
Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Malevolent Creation, Dead infection ETC. I told them I liked the music and did not care
or put thought into the Gore/Satanic Message of the band... Just really Like the music... And it is a Feeling I have had for
many years over half my life. Even now People ask me what kind of music I like and I say "extreme metal"
it is easy to explain.. If you bring the word "Death" "Grindcore" "Brutality" People get turned off....

My in-laws are either Mennonite or Christian.. They all know I love "Extreme Metal"
No one judges and we get along.... Even though I am Heathenistic SOB.
The world is a peach so you better eat it up befor it withers and rots...

Mine never really cared what i listened to. As long as i did good in school. Granted, when i was in high school (over 20 years ago), the music was considerably slower. Black Sabbath was about as heavy as it got.
