I'm 18, and started listening the more brutal stuff when I was 14, my parents didn't care much, as long as it wasn't anti-christian (or actually any religion) so they once freaked out when they found me listening to God Dethroned on my 15th, and they immediately deleted all music I had on the pc. From my 16th they don't care much anymore, yes they hate my music, but they are fine with me listening to it (they don't allow me to wear shirts with anti-christian text on it as long as I'm living with them, but well I haven't got any and I don't really care).

My parents don't bother about what I'm listening too. My mother refers to it as "negative music" and refuses to buy me "those ugly" metalshirts and she's sad, that the prints last so long no matter how often they were in the washing machine  biggrin.
My father always brings the lame "Oh look! One of your folks!" joke as soon as he sees a metalhead. But he's the one who "suffers" the most from my music when I forget to close my door, because he's working on his PC on the same floor.
But they never told me not to listen to this stuff. I'm a good boy, so I try not to wear too offensive stuff and I blast my speakers only while they're not around.
