I'm curious as to how many people listen to music (and what genre), and keep it playing while they sleep.

Usually i listen to Brutal or Technical Death Metal while falling asleep.

Funny you mention doom. After i posted this, i figured i would try something different, so i played YOB and Esoteric. I didn't sleep as good, so i guess i'll go back to brutal

I used to listen to music as I fell asleep when I was younger, the genre depended on my mood, but usually it was Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. Now that Im married it's no longer an option however, I dont think the missus would like me turning on the stereo after she went to bed.

I've been trying other genres, but i'm back to Brutal Death Metal. Even though the wife hates my music, she has a way of tuning it out in her head.

I normally don't listen to music when I sleep. But the few occasions that I do, I tend to lean more towards trip-hop stuff like Portishead or Bonobo. If I'm in a heavier mood, Esoteric or Neurosis does well. Maybe even Ahab, if I'm in a "shit, I'm at sea and I'm about to get FUCKED UP" mood.

I sometimes listen to music when I go to sleep. When I do its usually ambient or doom metal.

Virgin Black: Elegant... and Dying.

First heard this around 2006 or 2007 (not sure exactly when) and have been listening to it ever since. Don't know why, but this is my favorite album to listen to when going to sleep.

Nope... I used to when I was younger.. The glory days of being a teenager..
Wife Sleeps with a fan on even in winter, I used to hate it when we started dating
and when we first moved in together But now I like the white noise of the fan spinning.

So much that I turn it on even when if I go to sleep before here. haha Funny how almost 7 years changes your perspective.

Funny you mention fan. My wife does the same, and i agree, the white noise of the fan is pretty nice. But i still like a mix of the fan and Brutal/Technical death metal.

I also like to have a fan on when I go to bed. The sound is quite relaxing.
