Drive offset correction problem
« on: May 16, 2011, 05:46:16 AM »
Hey guys.

I've been setting up EAC, but came across a problem.
I need to find out my drive offset for EAC.

I've been using this site for finding my drive offset settings as CGG said in the how-to topic.
but my drive, Matshita DVD+-RW UJ8B1 (listed as Panasonic) isn't in the list.

If anyone could tell me how to find it out, it would be great and very appreciated.

I must also note that I'm not using a PC, I'm using a Laptop. (Dell Vostro 3700)

Thanks,
Nick.

When you need to enter a drive offset you can do it 2 ways, put it manually, or just click the below line for eac to find it automatically. I rechecked eac's page for drive offsets and your drive isn't listed :-\
If you didn't come with your drive offset automatically, I don't know how I can help you.
If you see any dead links, or not seeding torrents, feel free to let us know, so we can help you by fixing it :)

Well sometimes it says something like. You can use this CD to automaticly configure your Offset.
But then It gives an error. Probaly because my drive isn't listed. :c

I actually ripped some CD's but didn't have the optimal result.
I'll ask for help on the accuraterip forum I gues..

EDIT: Thanks for replying though. %4

On top of this list --> http://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm  you see this --> Information: JLMS drives are listed as Lite-ON,   HL-DT-ST as LG Electronics  &  Matshita as Panasonic

I would suggest you to set your offset to +102  %4

Thanks for your help Vit, I'll use +102 for now.
Also made a topic at AccurateRIP forums, just to see if it's the right solution.

Uncheck "Use Accuarterip with this drive". Then you can pop a CD in and use the "Detect read sample offset correction" at the top. That's always worked for me anyhow.

Then you can burn and compare samples for the write offset.

Haha I can't even check/uncheck that option it's unavailable. (coloured dark). and It doesn't matter which CD I use it always says this CD cannot be used for detecting etc..

Does EAC detect your drive at all? or is it just the accuarterip problem?
If you have more then one make sure the right one is selected and update the firmware.
That's odd that's greyed out if you can't use accurip since you would need to set the offset manually then anyhow.

Make sure "Activate beginner mode" is unchecked under the EAC Options > Tools. That would be the only reason I can think of it's greyed out.

If all else you can search the hydrogenaudio.org boards. all kinds of EAC help/guides/trouble shooting there.

It recognizes my drive, just not what type, and I can't use any cd to set the offset.
I ripped a few cds though which sounded good so far.
