I am surprised, nobody has mentioned "Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All".

It's one of the best album of 2011 in my opinion.

Agreed. I had just forgotten about it since I'm still trying to catch up on albums released last year, lol. It will take me forever to get through all this year's albums, such a good year for metal. Throwing in Rwake - Rest too, pretty good album.

Hate Division topped my list.

Wow dude, I never thought I would see the day where an album from my band would grace someone's top list for a year.  %4

Means a lot to all of us. Thank you.

Head on over to Guttural Zine to vote for your favorite albums of 2011!
http://www.gutturalzine.net/eng/voting/

There is a Death Metal and Grind section so make sure to vote in each section. The Grind section has stuff like Exhumed and Ghoul so its not all grind, weird eh?

Here is my list, overall it was a great year and there are a ton of other albums that I really enjoyed and some I still have to pick up. But these albums get my thumbs up!

Death Metal
Origin - Entity
Trifixion - A Utopia for the Damned
Gorgasm - Orgy Of Murder
Splattered Entrails - Nauseate
The Unborn Dead - Primitive Origins
Unbreakable Hatred - Chaos
Dysentery - Internal Devastation
Face Of Oblivion - The Embers Of Man
Beyond Creation - The Aura
Abnormity - Irreversible Disintegration

Grind
Exhumed “All Guts, No Glory”
Noisear "Subvert The Dominant Paradigm"

On another note 2011 was an amazing year for me personally as Hate Division released our first full length album which anyone in a band can tell you is a major goal! Also I launched Blast Head Records which is doing better than I thought with 2012 shaping up pretty amazing! That's it for now. \m/

This was a difficult list to make as there were many good albums last year. After much thought, here are my personal favorites of 2011. ^-(

Album of the Year: for all genres
Septicflesh - The Great Mass

Best Death Metal
For me, these 2 are tied for 1st place:
Hate Division - Strategy Of Obsolescence / Trifixion - A Utopia For The Damned

Also loved these albums:
Absurd Universe - Habeas Corpus
Apocalypse Warhead - Opening The Silos
Beyond Creation - The Aura
Gorgasm - Orgy Of Murder
Obscura - Omnivium
Origin - Entity
Splattered Entrails - Nauseate
Unbreakable Hatred - Total Chaos

Best Grind
Haemorrhage - Hospital Carnage
Exhumed - All Guts, No Glory
Wormrot - Dirge
Please send me a PM if you want a re-up.

Just went through this thread and I am SHOCKED not to see these releases mentioned:

I know that non of these are brutal death metal og anything, but death metal nontheless.

Morbus Chron - Sleepers in the Rift

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3bK2WPFGE4

Krypts - Krypts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeGDhr_oIn4

Execration - Odes of the Occult

Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2MJ37JrHcY

Bastard Priest - Ghouls of the Endless Night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wREipuub8Eo

Teitanblood - Purging Tongues

Stench of Decay - Visions Beyond Death

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHJPkOejtOg

Those are the ones I really liked from last year. I will go as far as calling the three first in the post classics already, and the others are really great. Especially Necros Christos, Bastard Priest and Teitanblood. Superb stuff!

Execration - Odes of the Occult

Really good stuff, it looks like they were listening to Autopsy and Ulcerate a lot while composing the new album. Can't wait for the cd release (only vinyl for now)

Let me explain that for you. In the Grind section you'll not only find real Grindcore cds but also cds from the genres Death/Grind and Goregrind. It's all put together in one list. Overwise the lists for Grindcore only etc. would be very small and it would not make any sense to start a voting for these sections.

Back to topic: I first said that Gorgasm was my favorite of 2011 but I've to say that I actually listened more to the latest Decaying Purity full-length in the end. Both are very cool but my Top 3 winner's  podium list would be like this:

Decaying Purity
Gorgasm
Condemned

Indeed, but I don't get too much of an Autopsy-feeling of it. I honestly get a VON-feeling from the album. Like a death metal version of VON. Superb live band as well.
And I own the vinyl. Great release and well worth the money.
