Death - the band that got me into death metal

Amazing band, one of the best DM bands around

I want to know everyones top 5 favourite bands, i did a quick search on this, to see if there was something like it, but i got bored of wading through intros with favourite bands in. Anyway i put it in the chat section because i want people to say any genre, see how diverse everyone is. A little expalnation would be nice to.

So heres mine:

The first 3 are almost little nostalgia trips for me, and ive seen Alexisonfire twice. I grew up on my dads David Bowie, and i go to sleep every night listening to You are not what you think you are by Codes In The Clouds.

this is actually pretty tough. haha

1. inveracity - to me, circle of perversion epitomizes everything that is good about death metal. i actually found them while looking for the lowest rated albums on tartarean desire. this asshole gave that album a 1 or 2 out of 10, and his explanation for why it was "awful" to him made me want to buy it immediately. haha don't ask me why he was reviewing death metal when his opinion was something like, "well, if all you like are blast beats and ultra guttural vocals..." you idiot. when it comes to brutal death, what more could you possibly ask for?

2. the smiths - these guys changed music for me. before them, i hated anything that wasn't metal, and the second i hit play, and hand in glove came on, something in me literally shifted, and i was instantly a different person, musically. hands down, these guys are the most skilled non metal musicians that i have ever heard. they don't even need to play super technical or fancy, but the emotion that they put out with their instruments makes them untouchable by any other band, ever. (to me, at least, i must stress that. i know a great number of people hate the smiths with a passion, this is my opinion; i'm not saying it's fact, i'm saying i think that they're great.)

3. cannibal corpse - the first death metal band i ever heard. they're great, i still love listening to them, and i still have every single album from them, except "the bleeding".

4. die antwoord - first heard this group last october, when they first released their cd, actually, and i have been more than hooked ever since. they are excellent showmen, and put a story along with their music. they are hip hop, meets incredibly eccentric pop art. usually, i wouldn't give a shit, except that these guys (and girl) back it up with their talent.

5. this spot is a giant toss up, and would have to be either led zeppelin, or... actually, yeah, i think i will go with zeppelin. generic as shit, but man, do those songs bring up memories of years past.  haha

I will never see Queen live, the real Queen. And some bands disband...

Even though i'm not a queen fan (i like about a small handful of their songs), i highly respect them as musicians, and i've seen them live. About 20 years ago. Fantastic show

5 is too hard for me to answer now, as i have over 90k artists known atm.
 

But up there would be Slayer, as they were the first heavy metal band i was into, later knowing them as thrash.

Then it would probably be Aborted, for getting me into bdm. 

The rest are kind of based on live performances, i liked Human Rejection very much and met Alex a few times and promoted his band on the internet for a bit. a real shame they split up.

The next would be either The Who or AC/DC or even Legend (US), ah its too hard.

Hate eternal is somewhere up there, Gortuary, Mutlated, Human Repugnance, Death, Autopsy, Carcass, The County Medical Examiners, Septic Gorge, Pathology, Battlelore, Alestorm, Korpiklaani, Svetoid, Black Sabbath, Witchfinder General, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Meat Loaf, Kong (Netherlands), Kila (Irish riverdance folk), Blue Sea (Prog rock group), Budgie, oh and Desecration how can i forget them? there are too many...i can go on for ever.
