I want to know everyones top 5 favourite bands, i did a quick search on this, to see if there was something like it, but i got bored of wading through intros with favourite bands in. Anyway i put it in the chat section because i want people to say any genre, see how diverse everyone is. A little expalnation would be nice to.

So heres mine:

Alexisonfire
Funeral For A Friend
The Gaslight Anthem
David Bowie
Codes In The Clouds

The first 3 are almost little nostalgia trips for me, and ive seen Alexisonfire twice. I grew up on my dads David Bowie, and i go to sleep every night listening to You are not what you think you are by Codes In The Clouds.

Even by allowing any genre, this top 5 would be a hard task to me. No matter what five bands would I put into, other five will be upset about it

1. AC/DC ---> the band which introduced me back in 1982, in the rock's wonderful world.

Never listened to ac/dc (highway to hell of couse i have, but anything else)
And ive only listened to Paranoid from black sabbath, brilliant album

1. Whitechapel (just The Somatic Defilement and This Is Exile, their new album is aweful)
2. Chelsea Grin

Yeah I can tell you like Whitechapel. I like the Somatic Defilement but the other to are way to core for me.

Yeah, and as much as I may love their early work I can totally understand why a lot of people hate them

Well i will add my 2 cents with 5 old of the genre i was and 5 new with the genre i listen by now.

1 - Black Sabbath i start to freak on paranoid album in 75 ehehe,yeah i was a 7 years old kids.

2 - Led Zeppelin of caurse
3 - Ozzy
4 - Slayer
5 - Trouble i really enjoy that style from 83 with the metal hour on radio back then.

This was for the old bands that i don`t really listen anymore.

1 - Despondency
2 - Waco Jesus
3 - Old Kataklysm
4 - Old Cryptopsy
5 - Fleshrot

10 bands would of been better,but here is the 5 bands i really enjoy

This list has been agonising to say the least. There are so many more bands that I really couldn't decide on. So here goes:

1. Metallica (RTL / MoP albums inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place - many hours per day learning those riffs as a teenager)
2. Jimi Hendrix (another huge influence for guitar - the man was a genious)
3. Sepultura (with Max)
4. Napalm Death
5. Captain Cleanoff

Honourable mentions and I had a tough time removing these:
Slayer (when I was 14, I thought they were god)
Carcass
Bolt Thrower
old Blood Duster
Psycroptic
Kyuss
RGTE
Unholy Grave

That is a nice list, I too thought Slayer was god between the ages of about 14-16

1. Led Zeppelin - No Contest, best band ever
2. Black Sabbath - Fathers of true metal, their first album (self titled) is one of the greatest albums ever recorded
3. Opeth - The band that got me into extreme music, along with my 4th...
4. Strapping Young Lad - Devin Townsend is a musical god.... period
5. Gorod - Best blend of technical, brutal and groovy metal

Honourable mentions (oh theres a lot!)

Frightmare - Responsible for the best metal album ever recorded (bringing back the bloodshed)
Jethro Tull - Amazing bluesy rock with a flute!
Dying Fetus - AGGRESSION
Necrophagist - (just pipped by Gorod for best technical band)
Pantera - I spent so much of my teenage years smoking weed and listening to Pantera lol. And dimebag is my favourite guitarist ever (along with Jimmy Page)
Metallica - Dont listen to them much anymore but RtL and Mop are amazing albums (especially considering the music environment when they were recorded, a world populated by fuckin hairbands)
Soundgarden - Awesome groovy grunge/metal

I listened to that chelsea grins album last night actually, i didnt think much of it, for me the ep before was much better.
