Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal (very good documentary. The story is told by thrash musicians & bands from the 80s [Exodus, Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, etc... lots of them!], and a bunch of clubs owners, metal DJs, fans, etc... who were there during the rise of thrash).

Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (another good film about the history of metal. The bonus DVD contains a documentary on Norwegian Black Metal if you're interested in that as well).

Global Metal (the sequel to Metal is a film about metal around the world - like Brazil, China, Japan, India, Israel, Indonesia, and a few other places).

Anvil: The Story of Anvil (Anvil is a Canadian thrash band that started over 30 years ago. They were an influence on Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and a bunch of other metal bands).

Thanks for the recommendations. Ive actually seen the anvil film before, it took me half of the film to work out if it was a piss take or serious, but that headbangers journey looks good
